Andrea Stolowitz is a playwright working in traditional and experimental theater and opera. Andrea’s work embraces bold theatricality ranging from intimate portrayals of the human condition to the intersection of national history on private lives. Andrea is a member of New Dramatists class of 2026, The Lacroute Playwright in Residence at The Oregon Jewish Museum Center for Holocaust Education, and the artistic director of Andrea Stolowitz Theatre Projects, the producing arm of her creative work. Andrea splits her time between Cork, Ireland; Berlin, Germany; New York; and Portland, OR. Andrea is also very, very funny.
TheBerlin Diaries was a recipient of the City of New York Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment Women’s Film, TV and Theatre Fund. The play was produced in 2023 at 59E59 by The Pool Plays in association with The New Group. It was then produced as a three theater 2024-25 NNPN Rolling World Premiere. It was additionally production in 2025 at TheatreJ in Washington, DC and in Chicago.The audio drama/(with ASL and slides) created by Artists Repertory Theatre’s Mercury Company is available here. The play is under publication contract with Concord and will be available for world-wide licensing in 2026.
Andrea’s newest work Numbered Be Our Days was recently seen at the Cork Midsummer Festival. The play has been invited to the 2026 Galway Theatre Festival, Cork Midsummer Festival, and Listowel Writers’ Week. Additional upcoming work includes: a commission from the Lucille Lortel’s Alcove Project, about the decade from 1979-1989 when we almost stopped climate change, an interview-based verbatim project about Bigfoot which is really about the urban-rural divide, and a play with music called “Earthnaughts into the Future” about the last two members of an intentional community that almost changed the world.
